Cat mom,
Photographer,
Treat dealer.

I’m Ashley, a Nashville pet photographer, and I live with my three cats: Mochi, Star, and Simba. Mochi is the oldest and the grumpiest. He doesn’t like being picked up, cuddles strictly on his own terms, and comes when I call him about 40% of the time. He’s also the reason I do this.

I’ve had a camera in my hands since high school, when I took art classes and started taking photos to draw from. But pet photography found me in 2019, the day I saw Mochi lying on my bed in a patch of sunlight and thought, “That would make a great picture”. It did. That photo was the first time I thought I could be really good at this. So I learned my camera inside and out, practiced on my cats constantly, and turned it into a business in 2022.

Practicing on my cats was its own education. Star hides under the couch when strangers come over and loves cheese. Simba is orange, purrs like a small engine, and will only do his tricks if he can see the treat in your hand first. Between the three of them, I learned patience, creative bribery, and how to catch the exact expression that makes a photo feel like them. That’s still the feeling I’m chasing in every session.

When I’m not taking photos, I’m running errands, reading, catching up on a show, or out with friends. And if I’m home, there’s a cat somewhere near me or on me.
